Your Voice, Our Actions

Listening to your feedback, we’ve identified critical areas for improvement and have already taken steps to address them:

  • Enhanced Communication: We’re expanding our communication channels to ensure you’re well-informed at every step. Look for explanatory materials tailored for new and existing patients, available in various formats such as handouts, in our waiting room, and on our website. Additionally, we’re collaborating with our software provider to enhance automated messaging systems, making staying connected and informed easier.
  • Comfortable Waiting Room: Your comfort matters to us. We’ve heard your concerns about the seating in our waiting room. In response, we’ve replaced the low sofa with more comfortable chairs, allowing for greater comfort and personal space during your visit.
  • Personalized Reception: Your privacy and comfort are paramount to us. As part of our accreditation standards, we adhere to strict protocols to safeguard your information. While maintaining confidentiality, we’ve optimized our processes to request only essential identifiers, such as birth month and partial phone numbers, ensuring a personalized and secure reception experience.
  • Appointment Availability: We understand the challenge of securing appointments in a high-demand environment. To address this, we’re refining our doctor timetables to optimize availability. We highly recommend booking in advance whenever possible to secure your preferred appointment slot. Rest assured, we’ve allocated dedicated time for urgent appointments to accommodate your immediate healthcare needs.

Thank You!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our patients who took the time to share their thoughts and experiences. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of Walker St General Practice, ensuring we continue to exceed expectations in delivering exceptional healthcare services.

At Walker St General Practice, your well-being is at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to continuous improvement, driven by your feedback, to provide you with the highest standard of care. Stay tuned for more updates on our journey of excellence.

My Medicare

What is MyMedicare?

MyMedicare is a voluntary patient registration model that aims to formalise the relationship between patients, their general practice, general practitioner (GP) and primary care teams. The Australian Government has introduced MyMedicare as part of an ongoing commitment to strengthening Medicare for all Australians.

What are the benefits of registering?

Registering in MyMedicare helps strengthen the relationship with your GP and practice, which leads to better care. By registering as a patient, additional funding becomes available to your healthcare provider to deliver the care you need.

MyMedicare patients will have access to:

  • longer MBS-funded telephone calls with your usual general practice

Who is eligible for MyMedicare?

You’re eligible to register if you’ve had two or more face-to-face appointments at your regular practice in the past 24 months. People who are facing hardship are exempt from all eligibility requirements. This includes people experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness. Parents/guardians and children can be registered at the same practice, if either is eligible and registered. A parent/guardian must register a child under 14 years and provide consent on their behalf. Young people aged 14 to 17 years can register and provide consent without a parent/guardian.

How do I register?

From 1 October 2023, eligible patients can:

  • Start the registration process in your Medicare Online Account or Express Plus Medicare Mobile app.
  • If you can’t complete it online, you can also come to the practice to complete a registration form. By signing the form, you are giving your consent to participate in MyMedicare with that practice.
